Ag BMP Loans
Redwood SWCD, through the Ag Best Management Practices (BMP) Loan Program, provides low interest financing for water quality improvement. Farmers and rural landowners can apply for a low interest loan for the purchase of conservation tillage equipment, septic system upgrades and ag waste systems for livestock facilities. Through the program the district works with Minnwest Bank of Redwood Falls, as the local lender, to provide low interest loans to encourage the installation of BMP's the prevent or reduce runoff from feedlots and farm fields and other pollution problems. Since 1999, the program has provided low interest loans totaling $1,256,606 to residents of Redwood County. $514,981 has been loaned for tillage equipment purchases. The loan program has provided $354,450 in funding for ag waste systems and $387,175 for septic system upgrades.
